The StressCheck® Difference

Am I solving the equations right? ..... Control errors associated with the numerical method (FEA)

Am I solving the right equations? .... Control errors associated with modeling (idealization).

Without control of both types of errors, it is impossible to validate the model.

StressCheck® is the only FEA program in existence today which was designed for controlling both the errors of discretization and idealization.
  • The errors of discretization are the errors controllable by the finite element mesh and the polynomial degree (h- or p-extensions).

  • The errors of idealization are the errors associated with the restrictions incorporated in mathematical model.

NAVAIR FRC-East favors StressCheck® for multi-body contact analysis

"Of the three FEA softwares that we use, StressCheck® gives me the most confidence when it comes to performing quality checks on multi-body contact analysis results. StressCheck® has the capability to plot any data of interest; the other two FEA softwares do not. And when it comes to interference fit multi-body contact, I haven't found any software to outperform StressCheck®."

For example, the basic assumptions of the linear theory of elasticity are that the strains are much smaller than unity; the stress is proportional to the strain independently of the magnitude of strain; the deformed and undeformed configuration of the elastic body are virtually identical, hence the equilibrium equations can be written for the undeformed configuration. In as much as these assumptions may not be applicable in particular cases, errors of idealization are incurred.

StressCheck® was designed so that the linear solution is a potential starting solution for a geometric and/or material nonlinear problem.
