StressCheck Installation Instructions

1. You must have Administrator Privileges in order to properly install StressCheck.

2. Run the Setup.exe to install StressCheck.  You will be guided through the steps necessary to install StressCheck on your computer.  You must log in to an Administrator account at least once after rebooting before logging in to a user account.

3. StressCheck offers the following installation options:

a. Workstation – install all StressCheck files to be used exclusively on the current machine.

b. License Server – install only components necessary to allow the system to act as a license server for StressCheck (not a file server).  No other StressCheck installation files will be put on the system.

4. All optional StressCheck features are installed by default except the CAD translators.

5. If you are installing StressCheck from CDROMs, you will be prompted for DISK2 only if you choose to install the optional CATIA V5 translator.  This optional CAD translator requires an additional license key.

6. Before you can run StressCheck, you must request a license file.  First, obtain your HostID by running the license manager tools utility “lmtools.exe” found in the top-level StressCheck installation directory (usually /Program Files/esrd/StressCheck8/).  Select the “System Settings” tab, then click the “Save HostID Info to a File” button. Send the resulting text file to your sales representative to obtain a license file.

License Server for Floating Licenses

StressCheck uses the FLEXlm license manager from Macrovision.  If you are already using FLEXlm to manage licenses for other applications, you may simply append the license keys provided by ESRD, into your standard FLEXlm license file (usually license.dat).  Be sure to modify the registry key “ESRD8_LICENSE_FILE” to reference your standard license file.  Alternatively, you may maintain separate license files for each application. For additional details concerning license serving options, consult the FLEXlm documentation found in the /StressCheck8/flexuser directory.

If StressCheck is the only application on your system that is using FLEXlm, and you have purchased a floating license(s), you may need to review the settings in the FLEXlm License Server applet in the Windows Setting/Control Panel on the license server machine.  First, “Stop” the license server if it is running.  Next, go to the “Setup” tab. If the paths shown for “lmgrd.exe”, “License File”, and “Debug Log File” are not correct, use corresponding the “Browse” buttons to correct each path as necessary.  Also activate the switches for “Use NT Services” and “Start Server at Power-Up”.  Return to the “Control” tab and “Start” the license server.
