Mapped Lamina Technical Brief
Abstract: A capability to align laminate orthotropic material properties with the curvature of an element has been implemented in StressCheck. The mapping of laminate orthotropic material properties to the general curvature of a body is available as two options; Lam-Map Edge and Lam-Map Volume. Lam-Map Edge is suited for unidirectional constant thickness plies that are stacked to form a laminate. Lam-Map Volume is ideal for modeling the cut fiber orientation in injection molded parts. Mapped laminates can be assigned to hexahedral or pentahedral elements only.
