Thirty years ago, on August 2nd, 1989, Engineering Software Research & Development, Inc. (ESRD) was founded in St. Louis, MO, USA. To commemorate this milestone, ESRD’s President & CEO Dr. Ricardo Actis would like to share a few words with you. Please take a few moments to read his commemoration.
In NAFEMS’ July 2019 edition of Benchmark Magazine, ESRD Chairman Dr. Barna Szabó reveals the converged StressCheck solution for the incremental spring rates, provides a summary of the FEA Puzzler respondent submissions, and documents the various approaches taken by the respondents.
ESRD’s Dr. Ricardo Actis attended and presented with technology partner Analytical Processes/Engineered Solutions (AP/ES) at the Engineered Residual Stress Implementation (ERSI) Workshop 2019 in Clearfield, UT. The goal of this annual workshop is to develop a roadmap for the implementation of the beneficial effect of engineered residual stresses in damage tolerance analysis (DTA).
Also, ESRD would like to extend our sincerest congratulations to the Washington University St. Louis racing team, who we sponsored this past year to improvements in multiple events, including engineering design. Great job, team!
We wish you good tidings and a S.A.F.E.R. New Year! Click to see a special message from ESRD.
Good news, everyone! We are working hard to finalize StressCheck Professional v10.5, and we’d like to share some of the latest features and enhancements users can expect to see in the next release (anticipated for Spring 2019)

Last month we asked our FEA-minded engineering community how we should improve StressCheck Professional, and the results are in! Find out what was most important to your fellow StressCheck users and FEA enthusiasts.
ESRD’s Dr. Ricardo Actis attended and presented with technology partner Analytical Processes/Engineered Solutions (AP/ES) at the Engineered Residual Stress Implementation (ERSI) Workshop 2018 in Clearfield, UT. This annual workshop is focused on the development of a damage tolerance methodologies for fatigue crack growth through deep Engineered Residual Stress (ERS) fields.
This past year, ESRD’s Drs. Barna Szabó and Ricardo Actis collaborated with NAVAIR’s Mr. Dave Rusk on a technical paper titled “Fatigue Life Prediction of Flaw-Tolerant Damaged Rotorcraft Structures”. This paper was presented at the American Helicopter Society Annual Forum 74 in Phoenix, Arizona May 14-17, 2018.

The software provides a highly reliable and user-friendly production stress analysis tool that will replace the Finite Element Method (FEM) tools and failure criteria the experts currently employ for analyzing bonded joints. The software includes an FEM-based handbook format, which allows non-experts to utilize models prepared by specialists. The handbook problems include built-in failure criteria, geometric and material nonlinearities, and the modern FEM technology provides better error control and the treatment of very large aspect ratios.”
